africaSTEMI Live! 2026 invites submissions under 11 clinical topic categories. Authors are invited to submit abstracts or clinical cases for oral presentation and e-poster display.

Submission Window Portal open from 15 November 2025. All submissions must be received by 23:59 EAT.

Abstract
Original research across all 11 topic categories. Structured or unstructured format accepted. Maximum 2000 characters.
Clinical Case
Interesting, challenging or rare clinical cases relevant to cardiovascular medicine. Ideal for case reports and case series.
Published in CVJA
All accepted submissions will be published in the Cardiovascular Journal of Africa (CVJA), a peer-reviewed international journal.
Trainee Award
Residents and fellows-in-training are automatically considered for the Best Trainee Abstract Award when submitting.
Oral Presentation
Top-scoring abstracts are invited for oral presentation before 1,000+ delegates from 28+ countries at the main congress.
E-Poster
All accepted submissions are displayed in the digital poster hall with moderated poster walks each afternoon.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts or clinical cases under the following categories:

  • Innovation, AI and Digital Health — Technology, machine learning, digital diagnostics, wearables
  • Heart Failure and Shock — Diagnosis, management, cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support
  • Preventive Cardiology — Hypertension, lipids, diabetes, lifestyle, primary and secondary prevention
  • Coronary Intervention and Coronary Surgery — PCI, CABG, complex coronary disease, bifurcation, CTO
  • Prehospital and Primary Emergency Cardiovascular Care — First response, EMS, STEMI networks, thrombolysis access
  • Acute Coronary Syndromes — STEMI, NSTEMI, unstable angina, reperfusion strategies
  • Atherosclerotic Vascular Disease — PAD, stroke, carotid, renal artery, polyvascular disease
  • Resuscitation and Cardiac Arrest — CPR, post-resuscitation care, sudden cardiac death, AEDs
  • Case Reports and Case Series — Unusual presentations, diagnostic challenges, rare conditions
  • Images in Cardiovascular Medicine — Striking imaging, echocardiography, angiography, CT/MRI
  • Basic and Translational Science — Laboratory research, biomarkers, genetics, novel mechanisms
Eligibility & Requirements
  • Open to all healthcare professionals globally — cardiologists, physicians, nurses, scientists and allied health professionals.
  • Medical students and trainees are encouraged to submit and will be automatically considered for the Best Trainee Abstract Award.
  • The presenting author must be registered for the congress by the time of presentation.
  • Each submitting author may submit a maximum of 3 abstracts as first author.
  • Work previously published in full is not eligible unless it contains substantial new data not in the publication.

Use standard abbreviations only (e.g. PCI, STEMI, LVEF). Define any non-standard abbreviations at first use. Use generic drug names throughout.
Review Process
  • All abstracts undergo blinded peer review by the Scientific Programme Committee.
  • Each abstract is scored by at least two independent reviewers on scientific merit, originality, methodology and relevance.
  • Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection by 1 May 2026.
  • Accepted abstracts will be published in the Cardiovascular Journal of Africa (CVJA).
  • The committee may reclassify accepted abstracts to a different presentation format. Decisions are final.

Ethics & Consent
  • Research involving human participants must have ethics committee approval. Reference number required.
  • Patient data must be fully anonymised. Case reports require written patient consent.
  • By submitting, authors grant africaSTEMI and CVJA permission to publish the abstract in the congress supplement and journal.
  • Fabrication or falsification of data is grounds for immediate rejection and institutional reporting.
